Summertime

I’ve been busy lazy this summer, which is the reasoning behind the lack of blogging.

We did this:

-Successfully housed and returned summer intern to Utah.

-Visited Seattle family (sans Scott)

-Babysat (ongoing…)

-Replaced head gasket on Honda (also still ongoing…)

-Got promoted

-Grew some top teeth

-Started crawling/pulling up on EVERYTHING/daring to walk at 8 months

This made us feel:

-glad I’m not stressed about cooking dinner every night

-angry at the airport worker in Seattle that made me throw away my baby food at the beginning of a 12hr day. Seriously…. It didn’t have any explosives in it!

-happy/tired/who could have multiples and survive?/ more than one child will be a cinch because I can handle 4 under 4 for a whole day and keep them alive

-happy to have saved $3000 with a handy husband/wish it didn’t take a decade to finish the job

-Yay!! more money, boo longer hours and working mostly nights

-Please child go to sleep and stop grinding your teeth together because it makes an AWFUL sound

-huzzah you can keep yourself occupied for 20 minutes/no you do not have to stand all day, stop being cranky/ I will trip you if you try that again

Now on to the pictures:

This Old House

We live in an old house. And we have a veritable forest on both sides of the old house we live in. Apparently, this combination is not good. NOT GOOD I SAY!! Do you know why it's not good?

The deer live in those forests that surround us. And they eat all our flowers and what small things I garden. Boo.

When's hunting season again?

Mom-isms

EAT YOUR VEGGIES!
SIT UP STRAIGHT!

Matthew really loves food. Really loves it. Peas included. Also he is our very own Chia pet, as demonstrated in the first picture. It was miracle grow that did the trick.

Matthew for Mothers Day

Click here to view this photo book larger

This is what I sent my mom for Mother's Day. I can post it now because I'm 5000% sure she doesn't know how to surf the web. That and she has no computer.

Would you rather??

Open the toilet to find an obscene amount of unflushed business, only to have the toilet overflow whilst you plunge it?

--OR--

Find that poopy diaper you missplaced in your dryer with your "clean" clothes?

Luckily, last week, I didn't have to choose!

Matthew lately

This was taken before church today. He's so adorable in his white button-down!

Conference weekend. Not a flattering picture of myself, but it's hard when you have to take it. Scott was preoccupied and I realized that I never get my picture taken with Matthew because I'm always the one behind the camera.

Also Conference weekend- also adorable. This kid is all smiles almost all the time :)

Our friends in the ward dropped this exersaucer off one day. He loves it! (He just really likes to stick everything in his mouth and drool all over it. I guess we'll clean it up before we return it.)

My aunt MaryKay and uncle Brad bought Matthew this hat right after he was born and he'll get some good use out of it next year. It's so cute!

With daddy. They are buddies unless I'm around. Then he turns into the ravenous monster child (i.e.- I'm his round-the-clock kids' meal)

Spring Cleaning

Pretty much I need this to motivate me. It was wonderful! Nothing like a little self-evaluation to start the spring cleaning process. Also, I think we should move resolution-making time to the first weekend in April. Just sayin...

A whale of a tale

This kid can giggle, but only for a bath. Who knows why that is?

This kid was just in his middle school play. Too bad they didn't tap into his real dance potential....

Declaration

I hereby proclaim all growth spurts to be of the devil, designed to push mothers to shake their babies and endure an eternity in the bonds of Satan.

Resolved!

Because it's January I feel immense pressure to share with you the goals I've set, because that's what you do in January, right? Set goals? So here is my ONE resolution:

Set weekly goals.

That's it. So far, so good. I can finally admit that, although I make daily lists of chores and my intentions are pure in accomplishing them, they most often end up on tomorrow's list. It's the "I have billions of lists from yesterday to do today but feel too overwhelmed, so I'll work on them tomorrow" attitude that gets me every time. For some reason, a weekly "accomplishment" list (because the word "do" connotes WORK and I'd rather have a feel-good way to describe my menial tasks at hand) is just my thing. You should try it. Having 10 things to do a week as opposed to a day really helps your stress level and sanity.

Okay, I also made some long term goals in the name of tradition. Here we go:

1. Lose weight (such a popular resolution!)
2. Exercise (this is how you accomplish #1, or so I'm told)
3. Take more pictures (having a baby does not decrease memory card space in this house)
4. Stay in touch with mission people more (bless you Facebook!)
5. Express gratitude more frequently (President Monson would be proud, no?)

Scott also set some goals, but has yet to share them.

Matthew jumped right in and whispered his dreams to me just last night:
1. Sleep through the night. (there is light at the end of this tunnel- 5.5hrs last night was a great start!)
2. Grow more hair (he's doing a fine job of this one)
3. Stop puking on everything and everyone (we're still working out the kinks...)

What do you plan to accomplish this year?

The Scapegoat

Now that Matthew is ex-utero, he is frequently blamed for many a problem.

Like this:
Note the arrow. Scott claims as he was burping Matthew, he (Matthew) just happened to pee his (scott's) new pants. Riiight....
